From the Betty Crocker Bake Off at age 8 to the Colorado Food Service Hall of Fame at age 60, Bob Starekow has been a “foodie”. bob-starekow-chefBob’s career took off in 1975 when his mentor, Mickey Smith, hired him to co-manage the Snake River Saloon at Keystone, Colorado with fellow Minnesotan, Jim Shields. Bob served as President of the Summit County Chapter of the Colorado Restaurant Association for a number of years as well as numerous appointments on community boards from the Frisco Merchants Association to the Summit County Transit Board. His cooking skills were honed as chef de cuisine at the Snake, the Gore Range Inn, Whiskey Creek, Colt’s Down Under to name a few of the stops on the culinary route. Bob continued to open, run and sell restaurants over a 40 year career culminating with his current creation, Kemosabe at Silverheels.
